Gary is an accomplished actor and improviser with experience doing voice-over and stage tech. He performs in plays and in improv shows in the Portland/Vancouver area, teaches improv workshops and develops scripts and sketches. Not only is this labor of love personally fulfilling, but it provides innumerable ideas for team-building workshops and keeping long meetings fun. Gary first hit the stage in 2002, taking improvisation workshops at ComedySportz in Portland. By the end of that year he had appeared in seven improv shows in Portland and Eugene, OR. In 2003 he added sketch comedy to his repertoire, both developing sketches and performing. He expanded his work into semi-improvised dinner theater in 2005, then played his first stage role with New Century Players in 2006. Gary has now played over 100 improv shows and five mainstage plays with various area theater companies. He also teaches improv workshops and has developed three full-length stage plays.

“PS, I Love Your Daughter.” Kicked off Coho Theater’s “World Premier Summer,” June 17-20, 2010. Director: Erin Thomas. Gary wrote and produced this one-act comedy about a 45-year-old man who falls for his best friend’s 30-year-old daughter.
“Happy Anniversary” - January 30, 2010, 10:30 PM — Fertile Ground Festival Gerding Theater at the Portland Armory, 128 NW Eleventh Avenue, Portland, OR. Staged reading of one of Gary’s original works as part of the Fertile Ground Festival of New Work.
“Good Citizen” - January 30, 2010, 2 PM and February 2, 7:30 PM—Fertile Ground Festival Staged Reading, Coho Theater. On a cold Friday night in March, Minoru Yasui tests the constitutionality of a curfew imposed on all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast. "Good Citizen" follows Yasui’s story, and reverberates with the history of a national policy that imprisons 70,000 U.S. citizens – men, women, and children – without due process. |

Role: La Jura (Policeman). “Gary Corbin's cameo as a police officer makes the humor in this 45-year-old play seem fresh.” - Allison Hallet, Portland Mercury "Arsenic and Old Lace" by Joseph Kesselring, a Magenta Theater production. Directed by Darren Mitchell. Role: Jonathan Brewster. Mortimer Brewster, a renowned theater critic, discovers that his kindly old aunts have a bad habit of poisoning lonely, old men with elderberry wine to ease their suffering. With the unexpected arrival of Mortimer’s devious and slightly homicidal other brother, Jonathan, things take a turn for the worse. Can Mortimer outwit Jonathan, maintain his engagement, keep the police from finding the truth, and figure out what to do with the body in the window-seat before it’s too late? “Once Upon a Palace Purple”, written and directed by Jaynie Roberts. A Magenta Theater production. Role: Red King Uberoff. "Purple" is an "unconventional fairy tale" told in a musical comedy format. Sisters Queen Violet of the Purple Kingdom and Scandalous of the Red Kingdom have been rivals since birth. Now it's a race to see who can marry off their daughters first. The Red princesses are gorgeous and talented; the Purples, not so much. The VanCougar (Western Washington University) called Gary’s performance “professional.” “Fatal Passage,” by Rose Richards, directed by Donna Sellman-Pilorget and Elisabeth Goebel. Role: Detective Cagney (lead). Fatal Passage is a murder mystery dinner theater set in 1962 on an ocean liner. Hard-boiled Detective Cagney has the job of solving the mysterious murder of a New York gangster on board. KCSz News A look at News, Sports, and Weather from the twisted prism of ComedySportz. Shows staged May 20, August 18, and October 20, 2006, and January 19, 2007. Appeared as regular character “Buzz Greenfield, Sports Anchor.” Wrote sketeches, and wrote and performed in five video sketches aired during show performances.
