Good Citizen

On a cold Friday night in March, Minoru Yasui tests the constitutionality of a curfew imposed on all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast. “Good Citizen” follows Yasui’s story, and reverberates with the history of a national policy that imprisoned 70,000 U.S. citizens – men, women, and children – without due process. A staged reading as part of the 2010 Fertile Ground Festival of New Works.

Mortimer Brewster, a renowned theater critic, discovers that his kindly old aunts have a bad habit of poisoning lonely, old men with elderberry wine to ease their suffering. With the unexpected arrival of Mortimer’s devious and slightly homicidal other brother, Jonathan, things take a turn for the worse. Can Mortimer outwit Jonathan, maintain his engagement, keep the police from finding the truth, and figure out what to do with the body in the window-seat before it’s too late?

Once Upon a Palace Purple

Now it’s a race to see who can marry off their daughters first. The Red princesses are gorgeous and talented; the Purples, not so much.
